John Digweed Tipped To Replace Pete Tong@Pacha

John Digweed Sports Pacha Cherries for 2013
Bedrock Records, owner John Digweed, is tipped to take over the Friday night slot at Pacha, left vacant by the expected departure of Radio1 DJ, Pete Tong. Digwood (46), was voted the Worlds's Number 1 DJ in 2001, and is presently rated at Number 97, in the 2012 DJmag Top 100 DJ's. Digweed, currently broadcasts the popular and influential, Transitions, radio show, which is syndicated to over 50 countries and 14 million people worldwide. He was a pioneering progressive house DJ in the late nineties and was closely associated with the rise of the iconic, Cream Brand  in Liverpool. His back to back sets, with old friend and mentor, Sasha, represented a golden era for British House music. Sasha may once again appear as a guest with Digweed at Pacha, as the Welsh DJ has denied recent rumours, that he will hold a residency at Sankeys Ibiza this summer. The prospect of a Digweed/Sasha reunion, to reflect their classic Northern Exposure days, is a mouth watering event, that is sure to fill Pacha, with House music purists.

A booking of John Digweed by Pacha, would be seen as a very interesting, if not surprise development in Ibiza, mainly because he was never considered a typical, Pacha DJ. How he may be received on the Island in 2013, would be open for debate, however his Bedrock Label is producing some good young talent, like Greek DJ Stelios Vassillodis and Digweeds musical pedigree is solid, with a loyal fan base to support him. With the right combination and mix of guests, the party has the potential to grow into a regular fixture on the Ibiza Clubbing scene. That said, 2013 is set to be one of the Islands most competitive seasons ever and there are sure to be a number of resulting casualties in places. Pacha are expected to announce in the coming days, news of its confirmed details for Summer 2013. The blog will update when the official announcements are made.
